Libyan military officials say they have caught a fugitive son of former leader Moammar Gadhafi.
A military spokesman said Saturday forces caught Seif al-Islam Gadhafi near the town of Obari, in the south of the country, near the border with Niger. Officials said it looked as though aides were trying to sneak Gadhafi into Niger, which has already given asylum to another of Gadhafi's sons, Saadi Gadhafi.
Niger President Mahamadou Issoufou said last week no decision had been about what to do if Seif Gadhafi requested asylum.
The International Criminal Court wants to try Seif Gadhafi on charges of crimes against humanity for helping lead the crackdown on protests during his father's rule.
ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo said late last month the court had been in talks with Seif about a possible surrender and making sure he gets a fair trial.
