Afghanistan is sending a delegation to Pakistan to probe the assassination of peace envoy and former Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani.
Presidential spokesman Aimal Faizi told reporters in Kabul Monday that Pakistan has agreed to accept the group, which could leave as early as Tuesday.
A suicide bomber posing as a Taliban envoy killed Mr. Rabbani at his home in the Afghan capital on September 20. The former president was heading efforts to negotiate with the Afghan Taliban.
Afghan officials say the attack was planned in Pakistan and carried out by a Pakistani citizen. The Afghan intelligence agency says it has handed over evidence to Pakistan. Afghan officials have said that Pakistan is not cooperating with the probe.
Pakistan has rejected allegations of involvement in Mr. Rabbani's killing.
Afghan presidential spokesman Faizi said Monday that Pakistan agreed to let the delegation visit after discussions at an international conference in Turkey earlier this month.
The group includes members of Afghan government ministries.
