Three astronauts and their Russian Soyuz capsule landed in snowy Kazakhstan early Tuesday after spending more than five months aboard the International Space Station.

American Mike Fossum, Japanese Satoshi Furukawa, and Russian cosmonaut Sergei Volkov departed the space station Monday, five days after their replacements arrived. All three are reported to be in good shape after spending 165 days in weightlessness.

The Russian Soyuz is the only transportation to and from the space station since the United States retired its aging space shuttle fleet in July. A Soyuz is scheduled to fly three more crew members to the space station next month, bringing the number on the orbiting laboratory to six.
