Vice President Biden Turkey and Greece Trip Highlights

Vice President Biden's trip to Turkey and Greece is scheduled for later this week. The White House has announced a tentative schedule of events and topics of discussion:

Friday, the Vice President will meet with Turkish leaders in Ankara.

-Discussions will focus on continued U.S. support in the fight against PKK terrorism. The discussions will include expanding trade opportunities between the U.S. and Turkey.

-The Turkish and American leaders will likely review the situations in Syria, Afghanistan and the upcoming Cyprus negotiations. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is scheduled to bring the Cyprus parties together in January.

Saturday, Vice President Biden stops in Istanbul to address the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

-The summit is hosted by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and continues the work of U.S. President Barack Obama's April 2010 Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship.

Monday, the Vice President travels to Greece for the administration's first meeting with Prime Minister Lucas Papademos.

-Biden will also meet with Greek President Karolos Papoulias to express continued U.S. support of Greek efforts to implement economic changes.
