The U.S. has handed over control of Camp Victory to Iraq.
Here is a look at the sprawling military complex near Baghdad that served as the hub of U.S. operations:
-Camp Victory had served as the U.S. military headquarters in Iraq since 2003.
-The U.S. military facilities at the site were constructed around a lavish palace complex that was built by the late Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.
-Saddam was imprisoned at the compound before his 2006 execution.
-Top U.S. military officials lived in the complex, which is encircled by 42 kilometers of protective walls.
-Iraqis are considering several ideas for the future of the complex — including possible use as a military barracks, cultural center or five-star hotels.
