U.S. Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain says he will make an announcement about the future of his campaign on Saturday.

Cain's presidential bid has suffered under allegations of sexual harassment and claims of a 13-year affair with a woman in his home state of Georgia.

The former pizza executive denies the accusation, but has said he would reassess his campaign. Cain plans to make his announcement from the state capital, Atlanta. He arrived there Friday to meet with his wife and discuss the situation.

Cain's candidacy shot to the top of the Republican popularity polls in September and October but he has seen a dramatic drop in support since the allegations surfaced. The first voting in the Republican primary campaign begins on January 3rd with the Iowa caucuses.

Cain also had some awkward moments on foreign policy, including a fumbled answer when asked to comment on U.S. President Barack Obama's policy on Libya.

Cain's struggles have cleared the way for former Speaker of the House of Representatives Newt Gingrich to surge ahead in opinion polls, surpassing even former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.
