The former South African national police commissioner is set to begin a 15-year jail sentence after losing an appeal to his corruption conviction.
The Supreme Court of Appeals in Johannesburg Friday said there was no evidence to nullify the verdict that Jackie Selebi had taken money from a convicted drug trafficker.
Selebi, who collapsed after hearing the court's decision, is expected to report to Johannesburg Prison Sunday to begin serving his sentence, pending a medical examination.
Selebi, a one-time president of Interpol, was convicted last year of providing favors to the drug dealer in exchange for thousands of dollars in cash and gifts. He has been free on bail pending the court's ruling.
