A suicide bomber struck a mosque in eastern Afghanistan Friday, killing a local police chief and at least five other people.
The attack in Kunar province came a few days after a suicide attack killed 55 people near a Shi'ite shrine in Kabul as Shi'ite pilgrims gathered to mark the holy day of Ashura.
Authorities in Kunar say the blast in the Ghazi Abad district killed the local police chief, an intelligence officer, two other police officers and a civilian. At least five other people were wounded in the blast.
Provincial officials say the bomber detonated his explosives inside the mosque during Friday prayers.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast.
