Queen Elizabeth on Saturday visited her husband in a British hospital, where he is recovering after undergoing heart surgery.
Buckingham Palace says Prince Philip, had a “good night” in Cambridge's Papworth Hospital following a procedure Friday for a blocked artery in his heart that is said to have caused him chest pains.
Doctors Friday inserted a small device called a stent into Prince Philip's blocked artery to open it up.
The 90-year-old was due to spend Christmas with members of the royal family at the Sandringham royal estate in eastern England. The palace said Friday that Prince Philip will remain in the hospital under observation for a short period.
The queen arrived at the hospital Saturday accompanied by her son Prince Edward.
Prince Philip, who was born in Greece in 1921, has been with Queen Elizabeth during her entire time on the British throne, which this year was her 60th. They were married in 1947.
Prince Charles, the heir to the throne, is their eldest child.
Prince Philip, who is also called the Duke of Edinburgh, has been known for his good health, tireless spirit and outspoken views.
