The Czech Health Ministry has advised Czech women who have breast implants made by a French company to have them replaced, after news the company used industrial-grade silicone that is prone to rupturing.

There are an estimated 2,000 women in the Czech Republic with the implants from the Poly Implant Prothese company.

On Thursday, French Health Minister Xavier Bertrand called for the European Union to impose stiffer rules on medical devices, including breast implants.

Poly Implant Prothese was forced to shut down after its breast implants were pulled from the market last year. France has recommended that the estimated 30,000 women in France who have the implants get them removed.
