Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has announced plans to return to the country later this month.

Mr. Musharraf told supporters in Karachi via telephone Sunday that he would arrive between January 27 and January 30.

The former president leads his own faction of the All Pakistan Muslim League and has talked about returning to Pakistan to lead the party and run in upcoming elections. He said in Sunday's telephone call that he has the support of all ethnic groups in Pakistan.

Pakistani prosecutors on Saturday said they would arrest him upon his arrival for alleged involvement in the 2007 assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

The former president blamed the attack on the Pakistani Taliban, but prosecutors have since said he played a role himself.

Mr. Musharraf has been living in self-imposed exile in London and Dubai since 2008.
