British Prime Minister David Cameron has said the 2012 London Olympics will bring “a lasting legacy” to Britain, as he marked 200 days until the Summer Games begin.

Mr. Cameron on Monday held his first Cabinet meeting of the New Year at the Olympic Park in Stratford, in east London, instead of at his official residence at Downing Street.

Olympic authorities, meanwhile, announced they had signed contracts specifying the post-Olympics use of six of eight of the permanent venues.

As the 200 days to go countdown was celebrated, news reports Monday said police carrying out tests managed to smuggle a fake bomb into Olympic Park. Organizers did not comment on the reports.

The Olympics will be held from July 27 to August 12, followed by the Paralympics from August 29 to September 9. Paralympics are Olympic-style games for athletes who have disabilities.
