Pakistani police say several heavily armed militants dressed in police uniforms have stormed into a police station in northwest Pakistan, triggering a gun battle with security forces.
Authorities say the gunmen and suicide bombers hurled grenades into the police chief's office Saturday in Dera Ismail Khan, near the lawless South Waziristan tribal region.
Officials say at least three people, including two militants have died in the assault. Several people were wounded, including police officers.
The station housing the police chief's office is located in a high-security area that houses government offices, a court complex and lawyers' offices.
