Nigeria's Supreme Court issued a ruling Friday ordering five state governors be removed from office.
The court ruled the governors' mandate to remain in their posts expired in May 2011.
The governors include Ibrahim Idris of Kogi state, Murtala Nyako of Adamawa, Bayelsa state's Timipre Sylva, Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto state, and Cross River's Liyel Imoke.
A Nigerian newspaper says they are all members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
