The Australian Open women's tennis championship has been won by Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, becoming the country's first Grand Slam winner.
Azarenka dominated Maria Sharapova of Russia 6-3, 6-0 Saturday in Melbourne to become the world's number one player.
The 22-year-old Azarenka was playing in her first final of 25 Grand Slam events.
The men's final Sunday features top seed Novak Djokovic – the defending champion – against second seed Rafael Nadal.
The Australian Open is the year's first of four Grand Slam events.
