The top U.S. envoy to Africa will lead a two-week mission to the continent to promote U.S. investment in large-scale energy projects.

Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Johnnie Carson will travel with executives from U.S. companies to five African countries beginning Monday.

The group will visit Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Nigeria and Ghana during the 12-day trip.

A State Department news release says the business delegates will represent U.S. firms that operate large-scale power generation and fuel supply projects.

It says delegates will meet with senior government leaders to promote their projects and discuss specific constraints that affect U.S. investment in the countries.
