About 50 people were killed and more than 20 others were injured in a road accident in eastern Guinea on Saturday.
Local government official Alhassane Conde issued a statement saying a truck was involved in the accident. He expressed condolences to the family.
The French news agency quotes a witness as saying that 46 bodies were pulled out of the wreckage and that four other people died before they could be hospitalized. He said 27 people were injured.
Speaking on the phone, the witness said the accident happened on the road between Moribadou and Beyla as the truck was going downhill and it brakes failed. He said the truck was carrying people to a weekly market in Beyla.
