The Republic of Congo will hold a mass funeral for about 200 people killed during a series of blasts at an arms depot in the capital, Brazzaville.

Government officials say the funeral will take place on Sunday, exactly one week after powerful explosions rocked the capital, destroying businesses, churches and homes.

Government officials believe an electrical short-circuit sparked a fire that led to the explosions.

Large mounds of rubble remain on and around the explosion site, where it is feared some might still be trapped and other munitions could explode.

Some local residents say authorities have not allowed them to return to their homes.

Many people are still crowding Brazzaville morgues and hospitals searching for loved ones.
