A U.S. judge has ordered an American woman to pay child support for her adopted son she sent back to his native Russia.
The judge granted a motion against Torry Hansen after she failed to appear in court Wednesday for a hearing on the matter.
Hansen was living in the southern state of Tennessee in April, 2010, when she put her seven-year-old on a flight to Russia.
A note was attached to the boy , saying he has psychological problems and she did not want him anymore, after adopting him a year earlier.
The adoption agency, World Association for Children and Parents, sued Hansen for child support and breach of contract in 2010.
The judge will hear arguments in May before determining what Hansen has to pay in child support.
The boy now lives in a group home in Moscow.
