Pakistani officials say insurgents have ambushed a military patrol in the semi-autonomous tribal region of North Waziristan, killing seven soldiers. Authorities say Pakistani forces have retaliated, killing eight militants. North Waziristan, located on the Afghan border, is a major hub for Taliban and al-Qaida-linked militants.
