A British court has ruled that a severely disabled man who wants a doctor to end his life can proceed with his court case.

Tony Nicklinson was left paralyzed from the neck down and unable to speak after suffering a stroke in 2005. He can communicate by controlling a computer using eye movements.

He is seeking legal protection for any doctor who helps him end his life.

In Europe, only Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Switzerland allow euthanasia.
