A bus carrying Belgian tourists home from a skiing holiday has crashed inside a tunnel in Switzerland (Tuesday), killing 28 people including 22 children.
The crash happened the Valais region, near the border with Italy. Twenty-four people were taken to the hospital. The two drivers are among the dead.
Police say the bus with 52 people on board hit a curb and smashed into a wall inside a highway tunnel. They say the impact mangled the front of the bus, trapping many of the passengers, who had to be cut out their seats.
Belgian Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo calls the crash an extremely sad day for all of Belgium. He plans to fly to the scene Wednesday.
