Tibetans in exile report that another monk set himself on fire in eastern Tibet to protest China's policies in the Tibetan-populated areas.

Lobsang Tsultrim, a monk of restive Kirti monastery, set himself on fire Friday afternoon in Ngaba in Sichuan province.

Chinese security forces reportedly smothered out the flames and drove the monk, still alive, to an unknown location.

The latest self-immolation case came only two days after another Tibetan monk, Jamyang Palden, burned himself in Tongren, a monastery town in Qinghai province. He survived after security forces put out the blaze.

Close to 30 Tibetans, mostly Buddhist monks, have set themselves on fire in the past year to draw attention to what they describe as Beijing's oppression of Tibetan religion and culture.

The Chinese government has described the self-immolations as barbaric and terrorists acts, spurred by overseas separatists groups.
