Two almost simultaneous grenade attacks in the Kenyan port city of Mombasa and a nearby small town late Saturday killed one person and wounded at least 24 others.
Officials say unidentified attackers threw a grenade at a Christian religious gathering in Mtwapa, a town north of Mombasa, killing a woman and wounding 10 people.
In Mombasa, a second grenade attack on a restaurant near the city's main stadium wounded several people.
This is the latest in a string of grenade attacks in Kenya since the country's troops entered Somalia in October to fight al-Qaida-aligned al-Shabab militants. But Saturday's attack was the first incident in Mombasa, a popular holiday destination.
In early March, a grenade attack in Nairobi killed at least four people and wounded about 40 others.
Kenya's government blames the al-Qaida-linked group of attacking and kidnapping foreign tourists on its territory. Al-Shabab has denied involvement in recent grenade attacks in Kenya.
