California prison officials have again denied parole for notorious mass murderer Charles Manson, possibly for the last time.
The 77-year-old Manson again did not attend his parole hearing Wednesday at Corcoran State Prison north of Los Angeles.
The parole board gave no clear reason for keeping him behind bars. But it ruled in previous hearings that Manson is still a danger.
Manson will not be eligible for parole again until he is 92 years old. Photographs of Manson taken last year show an old man with messy gray hair and a beard. A scar from a swastika he carved in his forehead for his murder trial can be clearly seen.
Manson, a failed musician and ex-convict, led a cult of social outcasts known as The Manson Family. He ordered them to murder seven people in August 1969. The victims included actress Sharon Tate, wife of film director Roman Polanski.
Tate was almost nine months pregnant when she was murdered.
Manson was sentenced to death. His sentence was later commuted to life in prison.
