A doctor treating Bee Gees star Robin Gibb calls his waking from a coma “incredible.”

Gibb is in intensive care in a London hospital where he is gravely ill with colorectal cancer.

The 62-year-old singer fell into a coma last week after coming down with pneumonia. His doctor alerted his family that he may never recover.

But Gibb surprised everyone by waking from the coma, becoming fully conscious and speaking to his family.

Dr. Andrew Thillinayagam Sunday called it a testament to Gibb's remarkable physical endurance.

The British-born Gibb and his brothers, Barry and Maurice, formed the Bee Gees in the late 1950s.

They became disco-era icons in the 1970s, selling hundreds of millions of records, including the smash hits How Deep Is Your Love, Stayin' Alive and Night Fever.
