Witnesses say a bomb has exploded at a newspaper headquarters in the Nigerian capital, Abuja.

The explosion Thursday went off at the headquarters of This Day, one of the country's most prominent papers.

A resident of the neighborhood told VOA the explosion shook his house at around 11 o'clock in the morning local time. He reported seeing smoke rising from the scene of the blast.

There was no immediate word on possible casualties. Police and emergency workers have rushed to the scene.
