U.S. President Barack Obama officially starts his re-election campaign Saturday at two rallies.
President Obama and his wife, Michelle, will appear at what are being called “Ready to Go” rallies in Ohio and Virginia.
Mr. Obama faces a re-election fight in a polarized nation haunted by unemployment and sluggish economic growth. The economic problems he inherited and has struggled to solve are now part of his first term track record.
The president said in his weekly address the recovery from “the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression ” is a “work in progress.”
Like the 2008 campaign, Mr. Obama is expected to mount an impressive electronic social media operation to reach voters.
