Port Sudan residents and Sudanese state media say a car has exploded in the city, killing one person.

There was no immediate explanation for the blast Tuesday in the Red Sea port, which came about a year after Sudan blamed Israel for an airstrike in the same region.

In 2009 another attack, by an unidentified aircraft, struck a convoy of arms smugglers in Sudan's Red Sea state.
