Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny is calling for more demonstrations following his release from jail Thursday for protesting after President Vladimir Putin's inauguration.

Navalny was greeted by cheering supporters after spending 15 days behind bars.

His fellow opposition leader, Sergei Udaltsov, got a similar reception earlier on Thursday.

Media reports say Navalny is calling for another protest on June 12th, the national “Russia Day” holiday.

Navalny's call for action comes just two days after Russia's lower house approved a bill that would levy hefty fines against

anyone participating in demonstrations not approved by the government. The bill has two more votes set for next month.
