Los Angeles Takes Game One of NHL Stanley Cup Finals

The Los Angeles Kings have taken the first game of the National Hockey League's Stanley Cup championship series with a 2-1 overtime win over the host New Jersey Devils Wednesday.

Anze Kopitar scored the winning goal on Devils goalie Martin Brodeur early in the overtime period, giving the Kings their ninth straight playoff road victory. Colin Fraser scored Los Angeles' only other goal in the first period, while Anton Volchenkov tied the game for New Jersey late in the second.

Game two in the best-of-seven series is set for Saturday on the Devils' home ice in Newark.
