Officials in eastern Afghanistan say a bomb blast has killed five and wounded 17 people.
Authorities say the explosion Monday in Kapisa province killed a local police commander, his son, two bodyguards, and one civilian.
Earlier this month, four French soldiers were killed in Kapisa, where hundreds of French troops have been deployed to fight the Taliban as part of the NATO mission.
Meanwhile in southern Afghanistan, NATO says one of its service members was killed Monday in an insurgent attack. No other details were provided.
