A bomb blast in eastern Afghanistan killed five people and wounded 17 others Monday.
Authorities say the explosion in Kapisa province killed a local police commander, his son, two bodyguards, and one civilian.
Earlier this month, four French soldiers were killed in Kapisa, where hundreds of French troops have been deployed to fight the Taliban as part of the NATO mission.
Also Monday, NATO said two of its service members were killed in two separate incidents in southern Afghanistan.
A NATO statement said one soldier was killed Monday in an insurgent attack, while the other died when three individuals in Afghan police uniform turned their weapons against him late Sunday.
The statement said the attackers managed to flee the area and are being sought. No other details were immediately available.
