Two explosions in Pakistan's restive southwest and northwest regions bordering Afghanistan have killed at least four people and wounded more than 30 others.

Pakistani officials say the first blast in Peshawar, the capital of northwestern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, took place outside a Sunni shrine as people gathered for weekly prayers held every Thursday. They say three people were killed, including two small children, and at least 21 others were wounded by a bomb placed in a donkey cart.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

Minutes later, another bomb exploded in a mosque in Quetta, the capital of southwestern Baluchistan province. Local officials say at least one person was killed and more than 13 wounded. Local media reported four of the wounded were in critical condition.
