WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange remains holed up in Ecuador's embassy in London, as the leaders of the South American country weigh his request for asylum.

Ecuador President Rafel Correa says his government is reviewing whether there are grounds to grant Assange asylum.

Mr. Correa says his administration will take as long as it needs before making a decision.

Assange arrived at Ecuador's Embassy Tuesday after Britain's high court rejected his appeal for extradition to Sweden to face charges linked to alleged sex crimes.

Assange fears Sweden will deport him to United States for trial for disclosing classified diplomatic documents on his WikiLeaks website.
