British authorities say they have arrested six terrorism suspects — five men and one woman — in a sting unrelated to the upcoming Olympic Games.
Police say the detainees range in age from 18 to 30 and that the arrests were part of a planned intelligence operation conducted as a series of raids across London early Thursday.
Police say they made searches of eight residential homes and one business in east, west, and north London.
They say one suspect was shot with a stun gun during the operation, but was not injured. Police say the arrests are not linked to the upcoming Olympics, which are slated to be held in a neighborhood near some of the arrests.
Seven years ago this week, 52 people were killed in London in a string of suicide attacks.
