U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is in Mongolia on an Asian tour aimed at promoting democracy and greater U.S. economic presence in the region.

Clinton on Monday addressed the International Women's Leadership forum being held in the capital, Ulaanbaatar.

She emphasized the benefits and importance of democracy for economic growth, stressing that one without the other cannot last.

“We need to make the 21st century a time in which people across Asia don't only become more wealthy. They must also become more free.”

Clinton also held talks with President Tsakhia Elbegdorj.

Clinton will also make stops in Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam this week before leaving the region.
