Egypt's supreme military council says it expects the government to obey a Supreme Court ruling upholding the military's dissolution of parliament.

The high court on Monday rejected a move by President Mohamed Morsi to reinstate parliament in defiance of the military. Military leaders ordered parliament dissolved last month after the supreme court declared the body invalid because of election irregularities.

Supporters of Mr. Morsi are calling for a million man march in Cairo Tuesday to support his decision to reconvene the lawmakers.

The court's decision sets up a possible showdown between the newly elected civilian president and the military, which still wields tremendous power in Egypt.
