The U.S. military says a Navy ship fired on a small boat that was speeding toward it off the coast of the United Arab Emirates.
UAE officials say one Indian national on board the boat was killed and three others were wounded. They say the boat was a fishing vessel.
The U.S. Navy says the refueling ship USNS Rappahannock fired on the small vessel Monday after it ignored a series of warnings to stop what the Navy called its “deliberate approach” toward the U.S. ship. It said it opened fire as a last resort.
The Navy did not confirm any casualties and said the incident is under investigation.
