U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says the United States will use “all elements of American power” to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
Clinton said Monday after talks with top Israeli officials in Jerusalem that Iran's proposals on the issue so far have been “non-starters.”
“We all prefer a diplomatic resolution and Iran's leaders still have the opportunity to make the right decision. The choice is ultimately Iran's.”
The United States, Israel and a number of European countries suspect Iran is working to develop nuclear weapons. Iran denies such aims, saying its uranium enrichment is for civilian energy and medical research.
Clinton returns to Washington early Tuesday, ending her two-week tour of nine countries in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
