The American television industry has announced nominations for the 64th primetime Emmy Awards, which will air in September.
AMC's drama series Mad Men and FX's miniseries American Horror Story are leading with 17 nominations each. They are closely followed by PBS' British drama series Downton Abbey and the History Channel's Hatfields & McCoys with 16 nominations each.
British actor Hugh Bonneville from Downton Abbey and American Jon Hamm from Mad Men are among Emmy Award nominees for best actor in a drama series.
Glenn Close, Michelle Dockery, Elizabeth Moss, Claire Danes, Julianna Margulies and Kathy Bates are actresses nominated for the top honors in the same category.
It is the first year that the major networks — ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX — did not get any nominations in the category of television drama.
Dancing With the Stars and Project Runway are among the nominees in the category of best reality show.
