The heaviest rains to hit Beijing in more than six decades killed 10 people and forced the evacuation of at least 50,000.
China's official Xinhua news agency reports Sunday that massive flooding trapped scores of residents and left cars floating in the streets.
It also reports that Beijing international airport canceled hundreds of flights, stranding at least 80,000 travellers.
Authorities say on average 17 centimeters of rain fell around Beijing. But some parts – like Fangshan district – received up to 46 centimeters.
The rain began on Saturday and could continue through Monday.
