The third day of competition at the London Olympics Monday features a dozen medal finals, including U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte as he seeks his second gold medal of the Summer Games. He will be competing in the 200-meter freestyle.

The U.S. men's gymnastics team may be on the verge of earning gold in a field that has been dominated by the Chinese in recent years.

The women's basketball qualifying games include the U.S. against Angola.

But a big question hanging over the Olympics is – will fans be seen in the various venues to watch the athletes compete, as rows and rows of seats have so far been empty.

Olympic organizers blame sponsors for not using their seats. Organizers have promised to release tickets to local children and military personnel, and to sell more tickets.

The ticket situation has athletes and fans furious. Television shots at various events have revealed blocks of unused seats.

The Telegraph, a British newspaper, said Monday it discovered at least 12,000 seats were not used Sunday.
