She finished the race (at 2:23:07), seconds ahead of Kenya's Priscah Jeptoo, who won silver. Russia's Tatyana Petrova Arkhipova took the bronze.

American tennis-playing sisters Serena and Venus Williams teamed up to win the women's doubles gold medal (against Czech pair of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka, who had to settle for the silver medal). Serena won the singles gold medal Saturday.
