The United Nations says a World Food Program employee was shot to death Saturday in the southern part of Sudan.
A WFP spokeswoman said Sunday that two unidentified gunmen opened fire on a UN car 80 kilometers north of the South Kordofan state capital of Kadugli and killed the Sudanese driver. She said another person in the car was wounded.
The Sudanese army has been fighting rebels from the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North in the area for more than a year.
There are no figures for how many people have died in the fighting.
