Police in the U.S. state of Texas say a gunman killed two people near Texas A&M University before officers shot dead the suspect.
Authorities say one police officer and one civilian were killed Monday after a gunman opened fire near the university in College Station. They say several other people were injured in the shooting.
Officials gave no further information about the shooter or his motivations.
Texas A&M University had issued a warning on its website earlier Monday saying an active shooter was near the campus football stadium. It urged people to avoid the area.
The shooting comes after two recent high profile shootings in the United States. On July 20, a gunman in Colorado opened fire at a movie theatre, killing 12 people. Two weeks later, seven people, including the gunman, were killed in a shooting at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin.
