Rescuers in central Kenya are continuing efforts to reach two Ugandan military helicopters that crashed on Mount Kenya.

Kenyan military officials said Tuesday the wreckage has been spotted by air, but that the fate of the crew on board the helicopters is not known.

On Monday, rescuers found a third helicopter that made an emergency landing on Mount Kenya. All seven people on board that aircraft were rescued.

Officials say investigators suspect bad weather caused the accidents.

There have been conflicting reports since Monday about the fate of the helicopters. Earlier reports said all the aircraft had been reached and all crew members recovered.

The Ugandan helicopters were on their way to Somalia to join African Union peacekeepers fighting al-Shabab militants.

A fourth helicopter traveling with the group landed safely in northeastern Kenya.
