Japanese officials say a powerful typhoon that passed over the country's southern islands has injured at least five people but left no major damage.

Typhoon Bolaven continues to bring rain and heavy winds to Okinawa and Amami Monday as it moves away into the East China Sea. About 75,000 people were without power on the islands, where the storm has affected transportation and forced schools to cancel classes.

The typhoon is expected to affect parts of the Korean peninsula later in the day and eastern China by Wednesday.

Meanwhile, another storm in the region is set to return to Taiwan.

Forecasters expect Typhoon Tembin to pass over Taiwan late Monday or early Tuesday. The storm first hit the island Friday before looping back out to sea.
