U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, of Florida, addressed the Republican National Convention on its final night.
The native Floridian has served in the Senate since 2010. Though never a Tea Party candidate, Rubio is a favorite among Tea Party conservatives.
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney told reporters in June that Rubio was being vetted as a potential vice presidential pick. However, the Romney camp ultimately settled on Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan for the job.
Rubio is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee.
The 41-year old is the son of Cuban immigrants who became naturalized U.S. citizens in 1975.
Rubio is a Christian whose faith has led him to worship at Catholic, Mormon and Protestant churches.
