There's a downpour expected during the Democratic National Convention's close Thursday night, but it will not include the usual convention downpour of red, white and blue balloons.
The convention finale was originally planned for the outdoor Bank of America stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. Fireworks were going to light up the night sky as President Barack Obama ended his acceptance speech.
But the threat of thunderstorms has changed the plans by the Democratic Party, which is moving Mr. Obama's speech into the Time Warner Center that hosts the rest of the convention.
The convention planners have not had time to put up balloons in the ceiling for that red, white and blue finish. Organizers are scrambling to come up with another way to punctuate the grand finale.
Republicans canceled the first day of their convention in Tampa, Florida last week due to weather. Hurricane Isaac brought severe wind and rains to the state before making landfall in Louisiana.
